Barbed: lodges in the wound together with venom sac. Bees can sting only once.
Straight and not barbed: does not lodge in the wound. Wasps can sting several times.
Wound
Sterile sting: wound will only rarely inflame.
Wound may inflame.
Result
Local swelling, redness and pain Some persons are allergic.
Swelling can be very dangerous.
Treatment
Remove sting and venom sac with sharp edge of fingernail or sharp object without touching venom sac (scraping movement parallel to the skin). Dab wound with e.g. household bleach or ammonia and apply cold compresses
Suck out the wound. Apply cold compresses. Take 2 painkillers
